Trigger Happy!

Attack on minorities is not new in our country; however the latest oppression of minorities has gone to newer heights and does not have much parallel in the history of Tamil Nadu. Whenever the Christian community is in the news for any people oriented activities, the caste Indians never hesitates to blame their activities to the "Foreign Fund” mirage. However it is those caste Indians who beg the world for foreign investment in the name of FDI. In India, from infra structure to human development, it is the government which begs for foreign fund and not otherwise. The oppression of minorities is a one sided game for the corrupt government to conceal its mis-governance. People forget corruption too fast when government blames the minorities or those who oppose its inhuman development models. This is what happened in Idunthakarai, a small hamlet which is in the forefront to oppose the unviable Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant. The Tamil Nadu Police forcefully entered the St Lourdes Church and broke the revered statute of St. Lourdes and urinated in the holy place to insult the minority Christian community in the Indian Republic. The elderly women who were praying in the church were dragged out of the church and assaulted mercilessly. One fisherman was killed by the police firing and another was driven to death by a low flying Coast Guard aircraft. Not even the British used its powerful fighter aircrafts against the poor Indian citizens. The message by the caste fanatic Indian ruling class is clear; “We will eliminate every voice of dissent in our way to please those Russians and Americans so that we can cocoon ourselves in our city forts”. The more the minorities oppose its easy for the ruling class to be trigger happy. The safety, security and equality guaranteed by our constitution to tribals and minorities are ensured to be only in the paper, so that the rulers can continue to exploit these voiceless citizens.
